Today, we'll explore how we source and maintain data for Field. We've come up with 3 core pillars to support confident and consistent data across the platform.
Pillar 1 | AI Research Agent
In collaboration with Cotera, we created a custom research agent that does deep research on a place. When saving data to our database, we tag all data with an AI provenance and context on how the data was discovered.
The agent quickly gathers simple information (locations, hours, website) to create the place's profile, then infer sourcing and practices based on the place's website, maps listing, menus, articles, blogs, and more.
The profile is then ready for a business owner to review.
Pillar 2 | Business Owners
The initial pass is considered the first draft of a place's Field profile. From this first draft, a business owner can validate, edit, make claims, and breathe life into their page.
Empowering business owners to share their story is the goal here. Farmers listing the brand of feed they give their chickens, a yoga studio owner claiming cork mats and natural cleaning supplies, chefs writing about the farms they partner with– all possibilities on the profile
Pillar 3 | Community Members
On Field, users can search and discover places that are aligned with their values. Everyone is given a voice to contribute about any place on the platform.
Community members have the ability to verify claims they see are true, report claims that they don't believe are true, and submit a new claim that belongs on that place's profile.
